It's been a good three years now since I swapped my HP laptop for a Macbook Pro. In the mean time, I've started doing a bit more astrophotography and of course the change of operating system has affected the tools I use to obtain and process photos. AstroImager This THREAD may help you if you want to try our ASI120MM/MC cameras on Mac OSX. DCD is a platform independent user interface for remote telescope and device control, compatible with the INDI standard. History The StarShoot AutoGuider's incredible ease of use will appeal to beginning and experienced astrophotographers alike. We've included highly acclaimed PHD Guiding software for the most intuitive and user-friendly autoguiding experience. The included PHD Guiding software requires no previous knowledge of autoguiding. It offers automatic calibration and guiding with literally a single mouse click. PHD Guiding has been ranked as the #1 guiding software in the 2007 "AstroPhoto Insight" magazine. The StarShoot AutoGuider is powered via your computer's high-speed USB 2.0 connection with the included 10' USB cable; no other power source is needed. A 6' RJ-12 cable is also included to connect the AutoGuider to the mount without the need for an additional RS-232 adapter.

I have not had problems using a 120MM as a guide camera using PH2, however it does not work well on Nebulosity. Where they work well is with the suit of AstroGuider (Mac OS X, payware, free trial) - SNR threshold for star detection adjusted to work better with Orion StarShoot 2. INDI requirements for various devices. In addition, you get to adjust the RA angle, the Dec backlash, and the RA and Dec guiding speeds. Note that you get to set default values for some of these parameters via the AstroGuider Preferences window. #5 SnowSailor #6 Renae Gage One more question, I currently use PHD2 for guiding. Will your guiding software work without an ST4 cable or must that be used? I'm just curious as I have the trial but I'm not sure when I'll have another clear night to give it a proper try.
